Yacht & Ship Registration from £500

Any ship, whether it is a yacht, commercial vessel, military ship or a fishing boat has a legal obligation to be registered. There are various marine services available to assist ship owners in ship registration application procedures. We have a wealth of knowledge in yacht and ship registration services and can help you find the flags of convenience most suited to your ship or yacht while also assisting you through the whole registration process.

Advantages:

  • Ship or yacht owners can register their vessels in jurisdictions that offer favourable tax regimes and legal environments, lower VAT rates, low registration costs and flexible crew requirements.

  • Registering your vessel under certain flags can provide your vessel with protection and assistance from British Embassies and Consulates throughout the world.

  • Registering your vessel can be done anonymously. In some jurisdictions a vessel owner can register an  ownership structure and transfer his/her yacht or ship to this structure thus limiting all personal liabilities and risks.

We provide a range of marine services for vessel owners, from yacht and ship registration, to marine finance and marine insurance. We will guide you through the initial steps of choosing the correct ownership jurisdiction, and assist you with the application and registration procedure, obtaining marine finance or with insuring your vessel

Panama £600

Panama is the most widely chosen jurisdiction for yacht and boats than any other country in the world. The Panama Ship Registry offers flexible requirements and fees for those yachts registered under the flag.

Advantages:

  • A flat registration fee, regardless of size or tonnage of the yacht.

  • No surveys and technical  certificates are required to be presented for a pleasure yacht.

  • The Registration Certificate is issued for a two-year period, which is renewable thereafter.

  • The Provisional Registration may be obtained on the  same  day after the application. Once the Provisional Registration is obtained, there is a term of 6 months to present all the original documents  in order to obtain the Permanent Registration.

Registration tariff:

  • $1,500.00  If owned by a foreigner

  • $1,000.00 If owned by a Panamanian

       (or a Panamanian corporation)

This tariff must also be paid upon renewal of the Registration.

Gibraltar £500

Yachts registered in Gibraltar fly the Red Ensign faced with the armorial bearings of Gibraltar and as such are entitled to Royal Navy protection.

In addition, because Gibraltar has independent tax status, VAT is not levied, so a company registered there does not have to pay VAT when buying a pleasure yacht, as long as the boat remains in Gibraltar.

Gibraltar registered yachts with non-EU owners can apply for VAT-free temporary importation to sail in EU waters for up to six months per year.

Advantages:

  • No VAT in Gibraltar

  • No Import Duty (if your vessel is not based in Gibraltar)

  • No tax on the sale of your vessel

Persons entitled to be owners of British Flag vessels

  • British nationals

  • Citizens of the European Union

  • Companies incorporated in jurisdictions which are subject to UK laws, and have principal places of business in these locations.

Non-British nationals can make use of Gibraltar companies to own their vessels. The vessels can then be registered in the names of their Gibraltar companies, with the owners or their nominees holding all the shares in the Company.

Under the laws applicable to yachts registered in Gibraltar in the name of limited companies it is:

  • Not necessary for shareholders or company directors to be nationals or residents of Gibraltar

  • Not necessary for the vessel to be surveyed annually

  • Not necessary for the skipper to hold any form of mariner's certificate in the case of pleasure yachts under 80 GRT
